ON DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C., Troon Golf took over management last year of the golf courses at Daufuskie Island Resort & Breathe Spa. Across Calibouge Sound from Hilton Head Island, the 190-room resort features The Melrose Course, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course where the last three holes play along the Atlantic shoreline. Temecula Creek Inn in Temecula, Calif., recently added 50 new guest rooms with private balconies and patios overlooking the golf course. The multimillion-dollar expansion also included the Yula Ballroom, which seats up to 350 for a banquet. An hour from Los Angeles in the heart of Southern California's wine country, Temecula Creek Inn has 9,000 square feet of meeting space, 130 guest rooms, and 27 holes of championship golf.

Tucson's first new resort in 18 years, the Starr Pass Marriott Resort & Spa, opened in December. Along with 575 guest rooms and suites, 88,000 square feet of meeting space, seven restaurants, and a full-service spa with 23 treatment rooms, the resort has a 27-hole Arnold Palmer Signature Golf facility.

The Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa has begun construction on a new desert course to complement its traditional parkland Orange/Gold championship course. The course will be created by adding nine holes to the existing nine-hole Green course. Construction should be completed by November.

Lake Las Vegas Resort, a 3,592-acre residential, golf, and resort community in Henderson, Nev., will build a Loews hotel, the first Loews property in Nevada. Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort will have about 400 rooms and suites, 40,000 square feet of meeting space, and a 20,000-square-foot spa. The hotel will be located near Reflection Bay Golf Club, one of the resort's two signature Jack Nicklaus golf courses. The grand opening is slated for 2008.

The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino renovated the Championship Golf Course, overlooking Lake Tahoe in Incline Village, Nev., and reopened it in May. Doral Tesoro Hotel & Golf Club, Alliance/Fort Worth, Texas, offers group tournament golfers a NASCAR twist: the golfer who drives closest to the pin on the course's signature 15th hole will win a 10-lap ride at the Texas Motor Speedway. At The Abbey Resort in Lake Geneva, Wis., a $40 million redevelopment was completed in May.The Abbey has completely refurbished its 35,000-square-foot Fontana Spa; it has nine new “dining concepts”, and a 400-slip marina. Its Memorial Day Weekend grand opening featured a fund raiser for the Medical Research Institute Council of Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. In Brewster, Mass., Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club on Cape Cod has finished a multimillion-dollar renovation. The historic 429-acre property has 335 guest accommodations, a 700-foot private beach, six swimming pools, two USPTA tennis facilities, an 18-hole PGA championship golf course, bike paths, a fitness center, and four restaurants. In the $5.5 million project, all guest rooms have been redone, a new executive boardroom has been added, and the golf course has been renovated, including new cart paths and restyled holes. www.oceanedge.com

In Tisbury, Mass., on Martha's Vineyard, Mink Meadows Golf Club debuted a new clubhouse this spring. The course, designed by Wayne Stiles, opened in 1936.

Stonewall Resort in Weston, W.V., which opened its Arnold Palmer Signature Course in 2002, now has added aerial footage of that course to its Web site. Each hole, from tee to green, is shown via a helicopter flyover.

Renaissance Ross Bridge Resort and Spa on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail will open this summer in the Birmingham, Ala., suburb of Hoover, with 258 guest rooms, 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space, and a 12,000-square-foot spa. After a $65 million renovation, the 480-room Hyatt Grand Champions Resort & Spa, in Indian Wells, Calif., now has remodeled guest rooms and meeting rooms (including a 20,000-square-foot ballroom). Every guest room and suite is now fully wireless and features a sitting area, a work desk, a private terrace, and a marble bath with separate shower. Guests can swim in seven free-form swimming pools, and 16 poolside cabanas are each equipped with Internet access. The 30,000-square-foot Agua Serena Spa has 18 treatment rooms, plunge pools, and a full-service salon. The fitness center offers yoga, pilates, and aerobics classes. The resort is surrounded by two 18-hole championship courses.

In Nashville, Tenn., The Golf Academy at Springhouse Links opened in May at Gaylord Opryland. The Scottish links — style, par-72 course, designed by former U.S. Open and PGA champion Larry Nelson, offers 18 holes bordered by limestone bluffs and federally protected wetlands. The fourth hole features the century-old springhouse that gives the club its name. On July 1, the 27,000-square-foot Relâche spa opened.

At Bay Point Marriott Resort & Spa in Panama City, Fla., a multimillion-dollar makeover will include a new Nicklaus Design Course with signature island lagoon hole No. 5 and new water features. Scheduled to open this fall, the course will will replace the former Lagoon Legends course. The makeover also includes remodeling of guest rooms, suites, and golf villas. www.marriottbaypoint.com

After an eight-month, $6 million reconstruction, the course at Breakers West, 11 miles west of The Breakers hotel in Palm Beach, Fla., has reopened as The Breakers Rees Jones Course. The new layout has added four acres of lakes, lengthened the course to more than 7,100 yards, and has changed it into a par-72. The Breakers' other championship course, the historic Ocean Course, is the oldest in the state and adjacent to the hotel. www.thebreakers.com

The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos, recently opened the Bugambilias Ballroom with 3,015 square feet of indoor function space, as well as a new business center, exclusively for groups, with four breakout rooms. The addition gives the hotel a total of 11,500 square feet of indoor meeting space. Guests can play the Tom Weiskopf — designed Desert Course at Cabo del Sol and The Ocean Course at Cabo del Sol, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design Course.

Twist your tongue around this one: Llandudno. It's the Victorian town in Wales where the North Wales Conference Centre has recently doubled in size. In the foothills of Mount Snowdon (just an hour from Manchester and Liverpool international airports), the center now can accommodate 5,000, with Wi-Fi connectivity throughout. And for a great post-meeting golf excursion: Royal St. David's in Harlech is only a short journey to the west coast through Snowdonia National Park. It recently made Golf Digest's list of the top 100 international courses.
