HEALTH CARE Meniscus Educational Institute in West Conshohocken, Pa., has announced three promotions. Gil A. Golden, MD, PhD, has been named medical education director. He had been associate medical education director. Joseph Caputo has been appointed director, clinical program development. Previously, he served as pharmacy education director. Assuming his former position is Susan M. Brown, who comes to the institute from her position as staff pharmacist at the Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

The American Heart Association in Dallas has promoted James Youngblood to the newly created position of executive vice president, science operations. He had been vice president, meetings, publishing, and science resources.

Saul Levin, MD, has been named president of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association in San Francisco. Levin is the first international medical graduate from South Africa to lead the association. He is president of Access Consulting International Inc., in Washington, D.C., and has served as special expert to the Department of Health and Human Resources during both the Bush and Clinton administrations.

Integrated Healthcare Communications Inc. in Toronto has named Anne Taylor-Vaisey to the new position of information specialist. Most recently, she had served as library services consultant, continuing education, faculty of medicine, University of Toronto.

CONVENTIONS & VISITOR BUREAUS At the Charlotte (N.C.) Convention and Visitors Bureau, Steve Brennan has been named national sales manager. He will market Charlotte to meeting planners in the Washington, D.C., area. Brennan most recently served as director of sales for the Renaissance Hotel in Charlotte.

The Greater Buffalo (N.Y.) Convention & Visitors Bureau has hired Melonya Johnson as sales director for the convention sales and services department. Formerly, Johnson was an employment specialist with the Buffalo Urban League.

HOTELS AND CONFERENCE CENTERS William Gilchrist has been named corporate director of sales for North America at Dolce International, based in Montvale, N.J. Gilchrist was previously director of marketing at Oak Brook Hills, a Dolce conference resort in the western suburbs of Chicago. He's been an associate of Dolce International since 1990. Last year Gilchrist was elected to Meeting Professionals International's board of directors.

James Canfield has been named executive director of the Pasadena Conference Center in California. The Center comprises a newly renovated conference center, an exhibition hall, and a conference building. Canfield comes to Pasadena after eight years as director of operations of the SMG-Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Steve Griffith has joined Opryland Hotel Florida in Osceola County as national sales manager for the Southeast region. Griffith comes to Orlando after 10 years with the Wyndham El Con-

quistador Resort in Puerto Rico, where he most recently served as director of association sales.

Hal Powell has been appointed director of sales and marketing for Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Va. Powell was previously resident manager and director of marketing for The Sagamore in Lake George, N.Y.

Patti Kerr Rouse has been appointed area director of sales for The Tremont House-A Wyndham Historic Hotel, Hotel Galvez-A Wyndham Historic Hotel, and Harbor House, all in Galveston, Texas. Rouse had been director of sales for Hotel Galvez.

Jennifer Klimkowski has promoted to assistant director of sales from her position as West region sales manager at Sutton Place Hotel in Chicago. Klimkowski previously worked in sales for hotel and consumer products.

Hilton New Orleans Riverside has announced the following staff changes: Scott W. Baublitz is the new director of sales. He had been the assistant director of sales at the Fontainbleau Hilton Resort & Towers in Miami. John Hages has been promoted to sales manager. He was formerly senior events direct sales manager. August Rauchle is the new events direct sales manager. Rauchle comes from the position of assistant front office manager at a New Orleans Hilton hotel.

Frank Couzo has been named director of sales and marketing at The Radisson Hotel Universal Orlando. In addition to his new responsibilities, Couzo will continue as area director of sales and marketing for MeriStar Hotels & Resorts' properties in the Orlando/Cocoa Beach area.
