The Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum in Salt Lake City offers versatile event spaces ranging in capacity from 15 to 1,500. The venue also has experienced event planners to expedite the planning process, in-house audiovisual equipment (including portable projectors and screens). Discovery Gateway has hosted formal dinners in its special exhibits space, which features direct access to a rooftop patio that offers a clear view of the Gateway center below and the beautiful Salt Lake Valley landscape beyond.
Salt Lake City food critics call Log Haven, at 6451 E. Millcreek Canyon Road, “Quite possibly the finest restaurant in the state.” In a log mansion in the Wasatch National Forest, 20 minutes from downtown Salt Lake, its Hillside Amphitheater overlooks scenic woods and has both indoor and outdoor space for parties up to 100. The large Rains room is lined with redwood bookshelves filled with artifacts and book collections. Lit by candles and natural light from windows on the Waterfall Patio, the Rains room can seat 25 to 50, the Patio can seat up to 200, and the Conservatory can hold another 60 to 100 for dinner or 200 for a reception.
Rocky Mountain Raceways
In addition to race cars, Rocky Mountain Raceways offers a convention center that can accommodate from 40 to 300 seated attendees, and up to 500 for a reception, as well as an oval track for larger concerts and events. It also offers three hospitality tents in the summer for outdoor events that can hold up to 250 for a seated event, and up to 500 for cocktails. Group catering as well as racing entertainment is available on weekends from May through October. On-site concessions also are available.
Equipment includes a CD player, computer projector, Internet (wireless), microphone, overhead projector, podium, sound system, and a projection screen. There is free on-site parking ; valet services are also offered on request. Alcohol can be provided, including full bar; the venue will charge a corkage fee.
The Horizon Event Center
This state-of-the-art indoor theater is fully equipped for seminars and presentations. Built to comfortably accommodate up to 85 people, it includes high-quality front- and rear-projection screens, dual-screen capability with built-in multisite presentation software, and a ceiling-mounted camera that allows recorded feeds to be streamed to overflow conference rooms and/or to Internet webcasts. The teleconferencing and sound system are integrated to enable multiple wireless microphone capability, and can encode for simultaneous video, audio, and data streaming.
The center also offers conference and banquet rooms that can be expanded to accommodate 120 people. They come equipped with a front-projection screen and ceiling-mounted projector, use of a full-service kitchen, and a staff person to host the event.
What once was the old historic post office in Salt Lake City’s vibrant Sugar House area now serves as a luxurious banquet and special-event venue modeled after an old Tuscan Villa. Offering award-winning Toscana cuisine, Cucina Nassi has three separate spaces that can provide for up to 250 people (fine dining) and 350 for a reception. Il Salone della Feste seats up to 250, the Tuscan Board Room can accommodate up to 45 for a seated dinner, and the Nassi Dining Foyer can seat 30 people. The three spaces can be rented separately or together to accommodate a variety of styles.
