The 2006 Las Vegas International Hospitality & Convention Summit, hosted by The William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, University of Las Vegas, scheduled for June 2 to 4 in Las Vegas, will feature EMBOK day. EMBOK stands for Event Management Body of Knowledge, a project event management educator Julia Rutherford Silvers, CSEP, has spearheaded. Soon to be released into the public domain, EMBOK was developed to provide “a knowledge framework and descriptive summary of the scope and processes that are used in the management of events that may be customized to meet the needs of various cultures, governments, education programs, and organizations,” according to the UNLV Summit site. This will be the first analytical review of the project in the United States.

Also on the lineup at the Hospitality Summit are a variety of presentations from hospitality, tourism, conventions, events, food and beverage, gaming, clubs, entertainment, and leisure services representatives. The summit is planned in conjunction with UNLV students studying meetings and events.
