Destination Marketing Association International, known as the International Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus until the organization officially adopted its new name in early August, has announced plans to roll out an accreditation program in 2006 for CVBs and tourist boards. Last year, the association established performance-reporting standards for bureaus. Both initiatives aim to establish professional standards for CVBs, which across the country are facing increasing pressure to justify their expenditures and marketing practices.
