Meeting U., a training company specializing in meeting technology education, is planning an 11-course program at a New York City training facility. James Spellos, CMP, president of Meeting U., Queens, N.Y., has led meeting-focused technology classes through New York University, the American Management Association, and meeting industry associations for several years, but for the first time will have a schedule of courses at a tech-enabled facility.

While details were still under discussion at press time, Spellos expects to begin his half-day seminars this summer, five related to software (Excel, Access, and PowerPoint for the meeting professional) and six to Internet issues such as virtual meetings, online registration, and e-marketing.

The cost is tentatively set at $125 to $150 per course, with a maximum of 20 students.Classes will be held at PC Learn (, a training center with high-speed access for all participants. Spellos hopes to repeat the courses two to three times a year. For information, visit
