An updated version of Worktopia Inc.'s meeting sourcing and booking tool—Universal Meeting Solution—now makes it possible for users to source large meetings of up to 1,000 attendees.

The White Plains, N.Y.–based company launched the UMS in 2008, focused on small, simple meetings of up to 50 people, but has steadily expanded into the strategic meetings management space. It added a UMS-Corporate Edition in March 2009, allowing companies to access pre-negotiated group guest room and meeting space rates; a UMS-Virtual Edition in October 2009, adding sourcing capabilities for telepresence and videoconferencing studios; and with a February 2010 update, the UMS could be configured to search for and book internal meeting spaces.

The sourcing engine, which does not include advertising in its search results, can be used to book meeting space, guest rooms, catering, and audiovisual equipment. The company has added a new hotel content-feed system to improve the property-update process.
