Meeting Professionals International has named a new vice president of knowledge management and member events. Vicki Hawarden, former director of education and conferences at the National Recreation and Park Association, Ashburn, Va., will relocate to Dallas, where MPI is based, to assume responsibility for the association’s educational offerings and member event experiences.

Melvin Tennant, the former director of both the Charlotte, N.C., and San Antonio convention bureaus, has taken on two roles at Meet Minneapolis, Official Convention + Visitors Association. Tennant will be the chief executive officer at Meet Minneapolis’ six-year-old iDSS, a company that sells a software application for destination marketing organizations, and he’ll also serve in the newly created position of senior vice president of innovation and operations, specifically focused on revenue-producing programs.

At Benchmark Hospitality International, Warren Breaux is taking over as director of sales and marketing at its Lansdowne Resort, in Leesburg, Va. Breaux will oversee sales and marketing for the 305-room property, which will soon complete a $60 million renovation and expansion program. He previously served as vice president of sales and marketing for Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center opening in April 2008 in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and before that as vice president of sales for the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville. Earlier in his career, Breaux spent 23 years with Hyatt Hotels, rising to vice president of sales and marketing.
