The National Baptist Convention, USA, is holding a special two-day event this week in cooperation with the American Red Cross: a National Orientation and Equipping Conference.
The purpose of the meeting is to help church leadership become better prepared to minister to people’s needs during natural disasters.
An invitation for the event said: “Your presence will not only enhance your leadership but will also say to government and the American Red Cross that the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. is concerned about helping underserved, disaster-stricken communities around the nation.”
The meeting’s program includes a presentation from the Department of Homeland Security/FEMA on organizing disaster relief work. The meeting is being held at State Plaza Hotel in Washington, D.C.
