Charleston (W.V.) Convention and Visitors Bureau hired Julie Caldwell as its new president. Caldwell was promoted from director of sales at the bureau.

Brien Zamperetti was hired as director, Eastern regional sales, at the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau. Most recently, he was regional director of sales at the Indianapolis Convention and Visitors Association.

Craig Cox was hired as meetings sales manager at the Indianapolis CVA. Previously, he worked as front desk manager at the Omni Severin in Indianapolis.

Greater Phoenix CVB promoted Marc Garcia to vice president of visitor marketing and community development; Melissa Gogel to director of marketing; Kim Matelski to marketing programs manager; and Erin Schlimgen to associate manager of citywide accounts.

San Diego CVB promoted Whitney Williams to sales manager. Previously, she was an express meetings representative at the CVB.

Steve Clanton was hired as vice president of sales at the San Antonio CVB. Previously, he was director of sales at the bureau. Also, John Solis was named assistant director, sales and marketing. He was promoted from vice president, sales and service, at the bureau.

Sandra Baker was appointed director of sales and marketing at the Oncenter Complex in Syracuse, N.Y.

Dana Smith was promoted to sales manager at the El Paso (Texas) CVB. Formerly, she was the executive assistant to the general manager at the bureau.

VisitPittsburgh promoted Craig Davis to vice president, sales and marketing; Karen Fisher to vice president, finance and operations; Jason Fulvi to executive director of convention sales; and Karl Pietrzak to senior national sales director.

Desiree Everett was named convention sales manager at the Portland Oregon Visitors Association. Everett joins the bureau from the Holiday Inn Portland, Downtown/Convention Center, where she was group sales manager.


Freeman Companies named Anthony Floreano general manager of its Boston office. He replaces George Slattery, who was promoted to a senior sales position within the exhibit design company.

a2z Inc., a Columbia, Md.-based software provider for associations and trade show organizers, hired Vince Schuster as vice president of sales. Previously, he was vice president of sales at Electrograph Systems, Hauppauge, N.Y.

Linda Natoli and Paula Natus were hired in the Central New York division of Snyder Tours in East Syracuse, N.Y. Natoli was named sales manager, while Natus was hired as sales coordinator.

ME Productions, an Orlando-based special event company, hired three new sales managers. Jennifer Freedman was hired as executive sales and event manager; Lillian Dew was named corporate executive sales and event manager; and Wanda Floyd Jones was tapped as business development manager.


John Rooney was promoted to vice president of resort development at Foxwoods Resort Casino, Mashantucket, Conn. Also, Dennis Khanh was named vice president of food and beverage at the resort. He is an industry veteran who has held similar positions at many hotels, including The Mirage in Las Vegas.

Emory Conference Center Hotel, Atlanta, hired two sales executives. Barbara Baker was hired as Northeast sales manager and Wendy Lynch was named corporate sales manager. Baker was promoted from corporate sales manager at the company, while Lynch held a similar title at the Marriott regional sales office in Atlanta.

Joel Alexander was named associates director of sales at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale (Ariz.) Resort and Spa at Gainey Ranch. Previously, he was senior sales manager at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.

Suncadia Resort near Roslyn, Wash., hired Peggy Hawkinson and Kristi Klein as national sales managers, based in Bellevue, Wash. Previously, Hawkinson was sales manager at the Hotel Bellwether in Bellevue, Wash., while Klein was director of sales at Hotel Max, Seattle.

Jennifer Erney was named director, group accounts, at Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Toronto. Previously, she was regional director, citywide accounts at Tourism Toronto.

The Heldrich, a New Brunswick, N.J.-based hotel, hired Taryn White as director of catering. Previously, she was sales catering manager at the Mandarin Oriental, New York. Also, Andre Drakeford was appointed sales manager at the hotel. He was formerly sales manager at Delta’s Restaurant in New Brunswick.

Marc Anderson was hired as director of marketing at The Peninsula Chicago. Previously, he was assistant vice president, sales, at the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau.

Stacey Edinger was hired as director of sales at the Parc 55 hotel in San Francisco. Edinger was previously director of national accounts at Gaylord Hotels.

Laura Jackson was promoted to Midwest sales manager at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando. Formerly, she was a conference center sales manager at the hotel.

Rocco Forte Hotels, a hotel chain based in London, hired Henriette Attard as director of group and incentive sales and Danny Tamari as group and incentives sales manager. Previously, Attard held a similar position at One and Only Resorts, while Tamari was regional sales manager at Morgans Hotel Group.

Karil Silman was hired as director of sales and marketing at the South Beach Marriott, Miami Beach, Fla. Previously, he held a similar position at the JW Marriott, Caracas, Venezuela.

Michelle Contreras and Cecilia De Leon were hired as senior sales managers at the Hilton Americas--Houston. Contreras joins the hotel from the Doubletree Hotel in New Orleans, where she was a sales manager, while de Leon joins from Springhill Suites Marriott in Houston, where she was director of sales.

Bill Weiberg was hired as general manager and Patrick Clemons was named director of sales and marketing at the Westin Minneapolis. Formerly Weiberg was general manager at White Lodging Services Corp., Minneapolis, while Clemons was director of corporate sales at a Minneapolis area independent hotel. Also, several other new managers were hired, including Sally Ableitner, senior sales manager; Matt Torfin, sales manager; Tracy Vopatek, catering manager; and Matthew Wells, convention services manager.

Todd Sitz was named director of convention services at the Fairmont Chicago. He joins the property from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, D.C., where he held a similar position.

Hilton Newark Airport, in Newark, N.J., hired Paul Holden as director of sales and marketing. Previously, Holden held a similar position at the Doubletree Guest Suites, Times Square in New York City.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek in Beaver Creek, Colo., hired Giles Priestland as director of leisure sales. Also, Melanie Walent was promoted to associate director of sales.

Mark Speranza was hired as director of sales at the Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center in Glen Cove, N.Y. Previously, he held a similar position at the Regent Wall Street in New York City.

InterContinental Houston promoted Ed Boden to director of special events and Anthony Duggan to director of rooms.

Peter Steketee was named general manager at the Embassy Suites Hotel Charleston Airport and Convention Center in North Charleston, S.C. He joins the property from the Embassy Suites Tampa—Downtown Convention Center.

Diana Anderson was appointed director of sales and marketing at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Riverfront Conference Center in East Peoria, Ill. Previously, she held a similar title at the Peoria Area CVB.
