There's something both grounding and inspiring about the luminous red rock mountain landscape of Sedona, Ariz., which is sacred to Native American cultures. And, tucked away on 70 acres of this magical setting is Enchantment Resort, a meetings-friendly property that expanded and enhanced its 32,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space late last year.

The resort opened two new junior ballrooms and one executive boardroom that bring its indoor meeting space to more than 13,000 square feet. Architecturally, the new event space plays off of the resort's adobe architecture and warm Southwestern décor, and offers views from floor-to-ceiling windows.

Doral Golf Resort & Spa, a Marriott Resort
Miami

The News: The property completed a $16 million renovation in December.

Specs: The 693-room hotel added the par-70 Jim McLean Signature Course, renovated the Spa at Doral, added a Latin-inspired restaurant, and enhanced its other two golf courses. The resort has 110,000 square feet of meeting space.

South Seas Island Resort
Captiva Island, Fla.

The News: In February, South Seas opened a 4,000-square-foot spa, The Kay Casperson Lifestyle Spa & Boutique.

Specs: The resort features more than 24,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, 104,000 square feet of outdoor space, 470 guest accommodations (from hotel rooms to private homes), a 9-hole golf course, a golf clubhouse, 18 pools, a kids' club, and six dining facilities.

Salish Lodge & Spa
Snoqualmie, Wash.

The News: The hotel completed a multimillion-dollar renovation in January to its 89 guest rooms.

Specs: Three dining options, 6,600 square feet of meeting space in five meeting rooms for groups of up to 180, and The Spa at Salish Lodge

Extra: The resort is located 30 minutes east of Seattle.

The Allison Inn & Spa
Newburg, Ore.

The News: The new hotel opened last September.

Specs: The 85-room hotel features 15,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 4,500-square-foot ballroom, a signature restaurant, a spa with 12 treatment rooms, and a fitness studio.

News Makers:

• The TradeWinds Island Resorts in St. Pete Beach, Fla., named Terry Popelka vice president of sales. Popelka comes to the resort from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resort in Orlando, where he served as director of Northeast sales.

• Rick Thompson has joined the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa in Destin, Fla., as director of sales. He was previously director of sales at the Marriott Bay Point in Panama City Beach, Fla.
