Thanks to the Suppliers

When RCMA was formed in the early 1970s, its focus was on planners of religious meetings sharing ideas and experiences that might enhance the performance of all involved. As interest and attendance increased, it became quite evident that another ingredient was needed — the input and sharing of those who supply the venues for the meetings and conferences.

My wife, Sue, and I recently visited three cities for the purpose of negotiating contracts with venues and hotels for future conferences. Navigating eight flight segments in eight days was challenging enough; however, we visited and negotiated with more than 50 sales directors and convention services coordinators in that same time frame. We met friends with whom we have already established working relationships, met new people whom we feel are already our friends, and enjoyed food and fellowship as well. Without the assistance of efficient convention and visitors bureau personnel, we could not have accomplished the tasks we faced.

All of the foregoing rhetoric serves to remind me of the very important support roles fulfilled by you — the suppliers. Your patience with our planners when we discuss limited budgets and challenges unique to the religious market is most appreciated. You always seem to understand our needs and endeavor to supply the appropriate response and assistance.

Our executive director, DeWayne S. Woodring, and the RCMA Board of Directors join with me in expressing a hearty “Thank You” to all the suppliers who willingly support and host RCMA with financial commitments, acquiring and sponsoring top-shelf entertainment and speakers, advertising and promotion, and cooperating with the guidelines set by the board. Without you and your faithful cooperation and support, RCMA would not be the tremendous association it has become.

We hope you have a productive 2006 and look forward to seeing you next year in Louisville, Kentucky.
