Visa Waiver Program: DEADLINE PUSHED BACK TO OCTOBER 2006
The deadline for the 27 countries in the Visa Waiver Program to begin issuing passports with biometric data has been pushed back another year, to October 2006. One requirement stands, however. By October 26, 2005, VWP countries must issue passports with digital photos. Those holding passports issued before that date can continue to enter the U.S. until the old documents expire. By October 26, 2006, VWP countries are supposed to start issuing passports with both a digital picture and an identification chip.
