Resources for Green Meetings
Highlights
Online resources for planning green meetingsA few new resources recently have become available for planners looking to green up their meetings.
Blog on: Nancy Wilson, CMP, principal with green meetings and event management firm Meeting Strategies Worldwide, and cofounder of the Green Meeting Industry Council, has started up a blog to chronicle all things green called Pretentious Musings of a Meet Green Martyr. Look for her tips, experiences, and suggestions at blog.meetingstrategiesworldwide.com.
Green and Googling: Planners looking for a forum where they can share green meetings tips and best practices may want to check out a newly formed Google Group on the topic. “Green Meetings and Events” was started in March by Jeanavive Janssen, director of sales at Alameda, Calif.-based Event Productions Inc. The group is for planners and vendors who want to create programs that are environmentally friendly. To join Green Meetings and Events, go to groups.google.com/group/green-meetings-and-events.
More Online Resources: The Professional Convention Management Association has put together a green meetings resource and made it available on pcma.org. Meeting Professionals International's Canadian Chapter also offers a “Plan to Meet Green E-Handbook.” Go to mpiweb.org and search under “chapters” for the link.
Association Meetings and our sister publications at MeetingsNet also have put together a comprehensive green meetings resource section that can be found at meetingsnet.com/green_meetings.
