Gala to Honor Dr. Woodring

The final night gala at next month’s RCMA World Conference & Expo in Kansas City, Mo., January 24–27, will pay special tribute to Dr. DeWayne Woodring, who has retired as RCMA’s executive director after serving with the association for 30 years.

The evening’s program will kick off with a reception at 6:15 p.m. at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown, followed by dinner and performances by the award-winning 12 Irish Tenors, who have performed sold-out shows across Europe and the United States.

Branson Lakes Area (Mo.) Chamber of Commerce and CVB is sponsoring the 12 Irish Tenors, as well as entertainment on Wednesday night of the conference. Segments of the musical hit "Joseph," based on the Biblical account in the Old Testament, will be performed at the renowned Kansas City Music Hall. Other stars on stage will include musical entertainers John and Ambrus Presley, the classic-rock vocal group The Platters, and Todd Oliver and Friends, a comedy act that has appeared on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” among others. Barry Williams, who played Greg Brady on the hit TV series “The Brady Bunch,” will be the evening’s master of ceremonies.

Kansas City is rolling out the red carpet for the RCMA meeting. The opening night reception at the convention center will highlight the city’s renowned cuisine, attractions, and accommodations. Educational opportunities include RCMA’s signature Behind-the-Scenes Experiences, plus more than a dozen expert-led tutorials.

You can still register for the meeting. Visit rcmaweb.org for details on registration, as well as the hosted buyers scholarship program, which reimburses the travel expenses of qualified RCMA meeting planners attending the conference and exposition.
