RCMA began in response to a “felt need.” The early organizing group was concerned about embracing and promoting professional and personal development for all religious meeting planners. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of RCMA, we are still about growing and developing.
Although our basic needs may be consistent with those of 30 years ago, RCMA members and associates today have new and changing “felt needs.” When the board of directors selected “Currents of Change” as a theme for the 2002 Conference and Exposition, we had no idea of the horrifying events of September 11 and how they would precipitate the tremendous changes in the meeting industry.
We commend all our associate members who made difficult contract adjustments for planners after the shutdown necessitated by our country's crises. We must all be committed and dependable as we service, rise, and grow together.
The “Currents of Change” theme is an acknowledgement of an ongoing commitment to relevancy in religious meeting planning. It is a consuming passion now, just as it was for planners 30 years ago, to meet the needs as they exist in our industry, and I would like to congratulate RCMA Executive Director Dr. DeWayne Woodring for helping religious meeting planners to stay on top of the currents of change. Dr. Woodring continues to aggressively lead and position RCMA as a leader in the meeting planning industry.
