Next-Generation Schrager
Marriott is partnering with Ian Schrager, who invented the concept of the boutique hotel, to create a new brand. Each 150-200 room hotel will reflect the cultural and social milieu of its location. The brand's unifying aesthetic will be its approach to the modern lifestyle, with design and architecture derived from the location of the individual properties. The partners expect to have at least five development deals signed by the end of 2007 and 100 hotels open or in the pipeline within a decade, including in such cities as New York, Miami, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Barcelona, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
