Park City, Utah
Meeting groups might find it a little difficult and a bit pricey to book one of Park City's 23 meeting and convention properties in the height of winter ski season, but they'll certainly want to consider its retreat-like natural beauty any other time of the year, when rates are up to 50 percent less than peak-season rates.
The former Olympic town is actually three resort areas in one: Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain Resort, and the Canyons Resort, and each offers a distinct atmosphere and services. Park City is also home to the famous Sun-dance Film Festival each winter.
Off-season provides plenty of options for recreation. In addition to the tried-and-true activities such as golf, hiking, mountain biking, hot-air ballooning, and horseback riding, there's an opportunity for team-building through a ride down the 1,335-meter sliding track in a four-man bobsled at the Olympic Park.
And even though Park City originally was a mining town and retains much of its Western flavor, planners and attendees will be delighted to learn that it's kept up-to-date: seven of its 23 meeting and convention properties offer wireless Internet technology to guests.
The Park City area is just 45 miles away from Salt Lake City International Airport.
