The Groups and Meetings Committee has organized five of the 10 sessions on the SMM educational track at the Global Business Travel Association’s Annual Convention & Exhibition, to be held August 21–24 in Denver:
• Building the Case for Change, Parts 1 and 2: Attendees will gain a strong foundation in how to build a business case to support their SMM initiatives, everything from developing a financial model and gap analysis, to creating a funding plan, to presenting the SMM to stakeholders throughout the company.
• Open Space Discussion—SMM Hot Topics: Moderated by Barb Taylor Carpender, CMM, CHSC, the roundtable discussions will focus on how to deal with out-of-policy renegades, the economics of insourcing versus outsourcing, the virtues of cyber- or hybrid meetings and post-conference social communities, and more.
• Supplier Smarts: This is an opportunity for suppliers to learn what they can do to become their clients’ SMM partners. The session will focus on the importance of hotel data, how hotels become preferred suppliers, and other supplier-centric topics.
• SMM Data: One of the biggest challenges in creating and growing an SMM is how to get good data and turn it into meaningful insights and effective reports. Groups and Meetings Committee experts will share their experiences.
Other SMM sessions at the convention will cover the ongoing Maturity Model project, , and global SMM.
