Survey Results: Bringing a Meeting to New Orleans
We recently polled meeting professionals, asking if they would bring a national meeting to New Orleans at this time. While the American Library Association and two other, smaller conventions went ahead with their meetings in the city in the last week of June, 37 percent of respondents said that it was too soon after the devastating hit from hurricane Katrina to bring their meeting to town. Thirty-three percent said they might, but they’d need a lot of assurance that their attendees would be safe, and only 4 percent said they would not consider the city because it is currently hurricane season. One quarter of respondents said that they would bring their large meeting to New Orleans at this time because they want to support the city.
