Meeting Industry Goes Radio-active
“Is this going to be cool, or what?” You can hear the enthusiasm in Bill Wulff's voice when he talks about his new meeting industry venture. In April, the former MetLife meeting executive and current president of Above the Rim Events in Fort Lee, N.J., is launching a call-in radio show for the meeting industry, to be broadcast live 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, via the Internet (and rebroadcast throughout the day).
Wulff is convinced that the immediacy and interactivity of meetingsradio.com will draw in busy planners. “ We [the meeting industry] have one-way communications, which is great. But the response system is not there. There's no feedback,” he says.
Wulff plans a programming theme for each day of the week. On Mondays, he will cover the latest news and trends, and on Wednesdays he'll interview an industry thought leader. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Friday, experts will join him to answer questions on job searches (Dawn Penfold, president of The Meeting Candidate Network), technology (John Maddox, CMP, director of software solutions at ISIS Corp.), and special events (Beth Shubert, founder of Evention Inc.), respectively.
