One of the few buildings to survive the Rotterdam Blitz in 1940, church services are still held in the medieval Church of St. Lawrence. The original structure was built in 1449 but over the centuries it has been expanded so that it can now hold plenary sessions for up to 1,500 attendees, banquets for 1,000, and parties for up to 2,000 guests. The main hall covers almost 27,000 square feet and is wired with powerpoints for exhibitor booths. The Laurenskerk is also equipped with a lighting rig, projection screens, and impressive acoustics.
