The architecture is reminiscent of an old hacienda with handmade tiles, a fountain in the central plaza, and ceiling arches like these in La Isabela restaurant. Guests use refurbished lobby phones from the 1930s to call any of the 299 rooms.

The ghost of a little girl, dubbed "La Macha," has allegedly been seen walking across the pool toward the old chapel on the grounds. Although the chapel is not for rent, there is 17,805 square feet of indoor meeting space and 13,719 square feet outside.

This boutique hotel is only 30 minutes from Liberia's international airport and has a total of 2,745 square feet of event space. El Mangroove can host a reception for 120 or a banquet for 80 indoors. A popular buyout destination, there are 85 guest rooms.

Guests enjoy spa treatments listening to the wind in the grass, birdsong, and the occasional howler monkey. The hotel sits directly on the bay but rooms facing the forest are prized for wildlife sightings.

Guests enjoy indoor/outdoor showers and screened-in hammock space in this sophisticated hotel opened in 2014. Although the property is aimed at couples and business travelers, it is rumored to have a kids' club.

Although the resort is situated directly on the ocean, all beaches in Costa Rica are public. To preserve privacy and provide lighting during outdoor receptions the resort built a private beach on the property.

The Catalinas restaurant borders an elegant swimming pool only a few feet from the ocean. The all-inclusive resort features 10 restaurants,  five bars, and a kids' club in its own building. 

Natural rock formations blocking access keep the hotel beach uncrowded. The resort features four restaurants around two shaded courtyards where guests relax in hammocks or buy crafts from local artisans each evening.

Four flexible meeting rooms that can be split into smaller spaces total 7,223 square feet. The largest, Pacuare, is 5,038 square feet and can accommodate up to 400 guests in theater-style seating or at a reception.

There are 290 guest rooms and 20 suites including the 2,442-square-foot Presidential Suite, which has its own kitchen, pantry, dining and sitting rooms, and an outdoor plunge pool (pictured). It is suitable for receptions for up to 150 people.
