This spring the American Medical Association got on the social-networking bandwagon by launching a profile page on the networking site Twitter. Its very first post (called a “tweet” in Twitter jargon) announced the organization's new online e-prescribing learning center, designed to provide doctors with information about electronic prescribing. The AMA plans to use Twitter to further its mission by uniting physicians to work on professional and public health issues.
