Quad Resort & Casino, Las Vegas—A huge transformation is taking place in Las Vegas: the renovation and rebranding of the Imperial Palace, a Caesars property. Both interior and exterior renovations—touching everything from the building's exterior façade to the porte cochere, front lobby, casino floor, retail promenade, and dining levels—will take place throughout 2013 and are expected to wrap before the end of year. El Encanto, Santa Barbara, Calif.—A head-to-toe renovation of this iconic hotel (part of the Orient-Express Hotels portfolio) has Californians buzzing. Manhattan Park Hyatt—Hyatt Hotels Corp. will open its first luxury hotel in New York, designed by world-renowned Pritzker Prize–winning architect Christian de Portzamparc. The property, on West 57th Street across from Carnegie Hall, is part of a 90-story mixed-use tower that will also feature condominiums overlooking Central Park. Highlights will include a restaurant/bar, spa, and indoor swimming pool in a three-story glass-enclosed space at the top of the hotel. Salamander Resort & Spa, Middleburg, Va.—Gracious. Relaxed. Respectful of the past. Those are terms being used to describe this new resort, opening in August just a 30-minute drive from Washington Dulles International Airport. Andaz Maui at Wailea—Maui’s popular Wailea Resort will get a new addition this summer with the Andaz, a Hyatt brand. The property, which has been vacant since September 2007, was formerly the Renaissance and, before that, the Stouffer Wailea. All three guest wings of the original hotel are being remodeled, and special features will include Morimoto Maui, a restaurant run by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, as well as four infinity pools and a spa. Ace Hotel, Los Angeles—Downtown L.A. just keeps getting cooler and hotels just keep getting hipper. Delano Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas— The same hotel brand that transformed Miami’s South Beach is coming to Las Vegas in late 2013. The new Delano at Mandalay Bay will take over the 64-story “The Hotel” tower as the result of a partnership between MGM Resorts International and Morgans Hotel Group. The resort's suites, public spaces, and spa will be renovated, and Morgans will introduce new restaurants including an American bistro by chef Brian Massie and a Japanese restaurant by chef Akira Back.
