The Dymaxion house, designed by Buckminster Fuller, was a hit with attendees at the ASAE opening reception at the Henry Ford Museum.
Henry Ford was involved with a lot more than just cars, as attendees at the ASAE 2015 opening reception learned. Among the many exhibits in the huge space was one dedicated to aeronautics.
Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau President and CEO Larry Alexander drove on stage in style in this Ford Mustang convertible, which was given away to a lucky ASAE 2015 attendee at the final evening celebration.
Loretta DeLuca, FASAE, CEO of DelCor Technology Solutions, gave a charming speech as she accepted the Academy of Leaders Award at the opening general session.

ASAE president and CEO John Graham outlined some of the organization's top priorities at a press conference on Monday morning, including a relaunch of its career site and a new hybrid membership model.

Detroit's famed Fox Theater hosted ASAE's The Classic, a fundraiser for the ASAE Foundation. The evening, billed as "Motown, Music, and Magic," included a VIP reception and a tribute to Detroit's musical roots in gospel, jazz, blues, and R&B.

The fundraising gala was topped off by a concert by musical performer Lionel Richie, who, with the Commodores, was a leading funk and R&B band in the 1970s before he went on to a successful solo career that earned him five Grammy awards.

ASAE raised $35,000 for Detroit's Alternatives for Girls, which helps homeless and high-risk girls and young women avoid violence, teen pregnancy and exploitation, and helps them to explore and access the support, resources, and opportunities necessary to be safe, to grow strong, and to make positive choices in their lives.

Closing general session speaker and professor, author, researcher, and licensed clinical psychologist Sherry Turkle explored the effect our smartphone obsession is having on us as a society and as individuals, and offered ways to reclaim conversation in today's increasingly digital world.
Detroit's finest turned out to applaud ASAE members and thank them for coming to the Comeback City as they filed out of the closing general session.

The closing night celebration, held at Detroit's Hart Plaza on the riverfront, featured cars, music, and a lot of ethnic food.

Lots of networking at Hart Plaza as ASAE 2015 took one last opportunity to connect.
Rock guitarist, saxophonist, and singer-songwriter Eddie Money was the headline act at the closing celebration at Hart Plaza. He brought down the house with his top hit, "Two Tickets to Paradise."
Detroit bid a fond farewell to ASAE attendees as they headed home from the Detroit Metro airport.
