My iPad is the most essential item I travel with. From reviewing contracts, looking up information when in a city, keeping up with e-mail, Skyping with clients and family, monitoring flights, to personal things like reading books, listening to my music library, to being a great platform for photo editing and sharing, it truly can do it all. If I had to choose, I would choose my iPad over my phone 10 times out of 10.— Timothy Arnold, CMP, CMM, Regional Vice President, HPN Global
In addition to my iPhone, I travel with my iPad and my HP laptop, for PowerPoint presentations and heavier duty work. Memory sticks are also very useful when I have to provide my PPT presentation at a meeting.— David Dubois, President and CEO, International Association of Exhibitions and Events
Bose QC20i noise-canceling headphones (makes any place a concentration zone), meditation track on phone, iPad and computer, painters tape (great for hanging flipcharts, as a lint roll, for taping microphones to the back when you don't have pockets), Post-it Notes, flipchart markers, phone and computer chargers with a charged power-pack battery, baby wipes (for cleaning airplane seats and gosh only knows all the times they’ve come in handy).—Holly Duckworth, CAE, CMP, CEO, Leadership Solutions International
I still don't go anywhere without my laptop, and usually my iPad. I'm trying to do more on the iPad but it still doesn't provide all of the functionality I need. Dropbox is essential. So are Skype and FaceTime! A portable charger for my iPhone has become increasingly needed. My American Airlines app gets a lot of use, too.— Kevin Hinton, Chief Excellence Officer, Society for Incentive Travel Excellence
When traveling, my favorite companion is what I like to call Dave-Fi. It’s a portable 4G wireless network that allows me to quickly sync e-mail and Dropbox files on my laptop and tablet. Up to eight devices can access it at once if I’m in the mood for making friends.—Dave Lutz, Managing Director, Velvet Chainsaw Consulting
"Irish Moss" throat pastels [lozenges], apparently used by opera singers to keep their vocal chords well lubricated and by extreme networkers to reduce risk of losing their voice when at trade shows—which reminds me (on the train to Frankfurt), I forgot to buy a new pack ready for IMEX! D#*n!!!— Martin Sirk, CEO, International Congress and Convention Association
My laptop is essential. After all of these years as a road warrior, I also pack a small unbreakable vase and find a sprig of nature somewhere to grace my conference office or hotel room. Otherwise, I am pretty self-contained.— Nancy Zavada, Principal, MeetGreen
My surface pro 3, my reading glasses, and my 25-hour portable charger for all devices.— David Peckinpaugh, CMP, president, Maritz Travel Co.
