The economic downward spiral and its effect on meetings is the question under fierce contention on the Meetings Collaborative discussion boards lately (free registration required). Some people are saying their meetings are being cut already, some are actually seeing boosts in attendance, at least for near-in meetings. Better rates for short-term meetings are one upside, cancellations and postponements until next year are one downside.
I think we're all trying to figure out exactly what it all means for us, which of course will vary from market to market, niche to niche, association to corporation togroup. But it means something to all of us. Here's hoping it's not our jobs.
