Reader request for help

A reader in a university CME office recently sent me this note: "We reopened a CME office after being closed for a number of years. While we were closed, CME was being provided individually by departments and community physicians. We are finding that participation rates are very low for most scheduled workshops and events, and rescheduling is becoming more frequent. We are competing with other free CME events in the organization and community. We charge a reasonable amount like the other CME providers. Despite needs assessments showing an identified need for the CME we are offering, physicians don't want to pay the registration fees. Balancing the finiancial flow into the office and creating quality programming is a major challenge."

If you have any advice to share, please e-mail me and I'll pass it along. Thanks!
