Indiana University School of Medicine, The North American Thrombosis Forum, and Twine Clinical was named the winner of The National Institute for Quality Improvement and Education’s first annual Best Practices in Performance Improvement Award.
A collaboration among the Indiana University School of Medicine, The North American Thrombosis Forum, and Twine Clinical was named the winner of The National Institute for Quality Improvement and Education’s first annual Best Practices in Performance Improvement Award at this year’s NIQIE Conference, held in September in Chicago.
The initiative best demonstrated the use of evidence-based performance measures, assessment of current practice against the measures, implementation of interventions for improvement, and remeasurement of clinical outcomes.
The uniqueness of the winning initiative hinges on its use of educational, as well as electronic, systemic process interventions to drive change in physician behavior, and follows up by using electronic health records to monitor performance and provide feedback to physicians.
