The Certified Incentive Travel Executive (CITE) designation is the industry's highest honor, awarded to SITE members who have exhibited an outstanding knowledge in all aspects of the incentive travel industry. The process is lengthy, often taking a couple of years to complete. Among the requirements are an original research paper and a comprehensive exam covering subjects such as ethics, destination selection, finance/budgeting, event planning, and transportation/accommodations. Candidates must also accumulate points for various activities, such as participation in SITE seminars, published articles, and speaking engagements.
There are fewer than 50 CITEs today, almost all of whom are located in the U.S.
