Known as one of the country's finest conference centers for more than 20 years, The Woodlands, Texas, has transformed itself into a resort destination. The setting (27 miles north of Houston) has always been spectacular, with architecture reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright and buildings nestled into the forest between golf courses and lakes. On Memorial Day, The Woodlands christened Forest Oasis waterscape, with waterfalls, a three-story, double-helix water slide, rambling pools, and a coral reef. An outdoor event space will overlook the pools. Also opening this month are 126 new guest rooms, including a VIP floor, bringing the room total to 490. The IACC-member conference center has more than 60,000 square feet of space, including a 13,400-square-foot ballroom. For those who prefer to golf (as if The Woodlands didn't have enough golf), a new Gary Player Signature course opens later this year.
