“Never double down on 10s. If you have two 10s, hold.” This was a bit of the advice given to a group of 300 incentive winners from Volkswagen as they arrived at The Venetian in Las Vegas recently. There, in a hospitality area set up just for them, were craps and poker tables with professional dealers who had been hired to teach them the games.
“We did it so they wouldn't be intimidated if they actually went to the casino,” says Kathleen Loesch, meeting operations manager at the Auburn Hills, Mich., company. Jacki Baskow, CEO, Baskow & Associates, Las Vegas, planned a reception at which guests were given play money with the company logo to use for practice games. “There's no better way to learn than by playing,” she says.
