The Convention Industry Council is nearly halfway through a six-month project, which was started in April, to address attrition issues in the meeting industry. Project Attrition will include an industrywide study of attendees' behavior when making hotel reservations for meetings. The study hopes to report on what can be done to motivate attendees to book within a contracted block.

Led by David Radcliffe, former president and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau, Project Attrition is expected to deliver, in addition to the survey, an educational program for organizations and their attendees, a toolkit of solutions that have helped other groups, and a dedicated section on the CIC Web site, www.conventionindustry.org.
