- What was your first job?
My very first job was as a clerk for the Maryland Casualty Co. However, my first job in the meeting industry was working as administrative assistant for the California Ambulance Association. I had a variety of duties, but one was to coordinate the annual convention and trade show. That's where I discovered the world of meeting planning.

- Who inspires you?
Generally, people who are not only smart, but balance their intellect with great heart, unwavering integrity, and a sense of humor. Specifically, my director of operations, Amy Colliton; my friend and longtime mentor, Nancy Morrell Swanson; and the vice president of the San Diego CVB, Christine Shimasaki.
- It's time for a second career; what do you choose?
Working in a bookstore, teaching yoga, or doing some social service work.
- What's the best book you read in the past year?
I'm just finishing a book that is my favorite so far: A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry.
