In truth, the exhibit,, and special event company provided a replica of the Oval Office to the Washington Convention Center and the Washington Convention and Tourism Corp. to help the city promote itself as a meeting destination. The company used the actual Oval Office as a research tool, getting a sense of the scale and feel of the office both while it was empty and in use. Outside the exhibit, plasma screens played television spots promoting D.C., featuring actors from “The West Wing” and first lady Laura Bush.
