Message from the President

Dear Fellow ICPA Members: Spring has come and gone very quickly, and now we are in the midst of summer. By the time you read this, the July Educational FORUM will already be history. I'd like to thank Mauna Hatchett for her efforts in developing and implementing this year's FORUM. Having reviewed the program and knowing the fantastic Québec City and Canadian partners, I'm certain the FORUM was a tremendous success!

The Annual Meeting will be held November 11 to 15 at Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas. The plan is to mail registration forms by the first of August, so be on the lookout for those materials. Brett Barrowman, president-elect and annual meeting program chair, has developed an excellent program, showcasing speakers, Atlantis, and the Bahamas. If your calendar permits, don't miss this opportunity to network, attend educational sessions, and experience one of the hottest destinations available to us!

This year's program will include our annual Exchange (of information and experiences), moderated by a neutral party. The “Town Hall” meeting is on the agenda, too, during which the Board will discuss association issues and answer the questions and concerns of members.

At the May ICPA Board meeting, two task forces were appointed to work on two very important issues for ICPA. Jaimee Niles will chair the Web Site Task Force to recommend a three-year business plan for enhancements to the ICPA Web site. Ken Juel will chair the Lottery Draw Task Force to review the entire lottery process for the Annual Meeting and recommend improvements. Task force recommendations will be discussed with members at the Annual Meeting in November.

One important action item for the Board and members is to increase membership to 500. Current data indicates we need approximately 75 recruits to meet our goal. Isn't there someone you know in the financial services industry who would benefit from membership in ICPA?

ICPA's Annual Meeting Goes to the Bahamas

November 11 to 15, ICPA will convene its Annual Meeting at Sun International's Atlantis, a luxury resort located on Paradise Island in Nassau, Bahamas. The $850-million property, themed around the legend of the lost city of Atlantis, opened in December 1998 with the world's largest man-made tropical marine habitat, the Caribbean's largest casino, water rides, and an attraction called The Dig, a depiction of the ruins of Atlantis viewed through picture windows in a series of interconnected passageways and chambers.
