WITH THE BOOMING popularity of spa services for corporate groups, destination spas have become a new choice for meetings and incentive programs. And their emphasis on fitness, well-being, and pampering extends throughout every aspect of the facilities.
Among the destination spas making a bid for group business is Red Mountain Spa in St. George, Utah, about a 90-minute drive from Las Vegas. Nestled at the foot of Snow Canyon State Park, Red Mountain has a relaxed Southwest ambience. Among the on-site highlights are fitness classes and innovative healthful cuisine that is neither fussy nor simplistic.
Red Mountain is adding luxury villas to its 116 guest rooms, located in nine low-rise buildings painted terra-cotta to match the surrounding landscape. Groups can take over one or more of the villas or guest-room buildings, and there is nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space in six indoor and outdoor function areas.
New to an extensive roster of meeting packages are three that use air diffusers to waft custom blends of aromatherapy oils into the meeting space, which, along with specially designed activities, promote themes of creativity, life in balance, or peak performance.
Known for its outdoor adventure activities, including an extensive hiking program with daily guided hikes at four levels of ability, Red Mountain also offers custom guided hikes, geo-caching competitions (a kind of high-tech treasure hunt using GPS, or global positioning systems, technology), and spa packages for groups. There are also 10 golf courses in the area: Entrada at Snow Canyon, a Johnny Miller/Fred Bliss — designed course, is five minutes from the spa. www.redmountainspa.com
