The 2014 Beyond
Borders Summit, which will be held on Monday, July 14, at the JW Marriott Essex House in New York City, has added four TED Talk—style speakers to the agenda for the day:
Arabella Bowen, editor-in-chief at Fodor's Travel, will share insights on how Fodor's writers and editors assess properties around the world. Fodor's Travel, America's oldest guidebook company, publishes 75 to 85 annual travel guides, along with dozens of other digital products.
Gregg Talley, president & CEO, Talley Management Group, will speak on trends and challenges in global meetings, including subvention (the practice of governmental bodies giving money to win meeting business), market understanding and success, risk mitigation, and geopolitics.
Ulla Buchner-Howard, DFA, CMP, adjunct professor at New York University’s R.P. Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Sports, will speak on the differences in hotel quality and ratings at international properties and chains vs. U.S. ones. How do you choose the hotel that’s right for your group?
Michael Cerbelli, partner and president of special events, Go West Creative Group, will speak on developing event elements such as entertainment and F&B with a global audience in mind.
The remainder of the day's agenda will include roundtable discussions on strategies and tactics for planning global meetings and incentives, facilitated by our editors. Pre-event polling will define the priorities for discussions. Attendees receive four clock hours of education credit from CIC toward their CMP certification or re-certification. Space is limited for this free all-day event, so register soon.
