On April 1, Bermuda's first new resort in 37 years, Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa, opened in Tucker's Town. The property is part of the Tucker's Point Club, a collection of luxury residences and amenities, and offers 88 rooms and suites as well as ample meeting space. Guest rooms are decorated with classic British-style furnishings and artwork, yet they feature modern amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi and flat-panel TVs.

The property also features a 12,000-square-foot spa with 10 treatment rooms, a 1,900-square-foot fitness center, and a croquet lawn. Groups have a private dining option in the Wine Room at the hotel's Point Restaurant. A 5,000-square-foot conference center provides multiple meeting rooms, a business center, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout, and an IT support staff.

Guests of the resort also enjoy access to all Tucker's Point Club facilities, including an 18-hole Rulewich-designed championship golf course, pro shop, pools, restaurants, and tennis courts. Getting groups in and out is not a problem either. The resort offers transportation to and from the Bermuda International Airport, located just 15 minutes away.

The News: The Fontainebleau has reached its full complement of signature restaurants with the opening of Hakkasan, the first North American outlet for legendary Chinese chef Alan Yau.

Specs: The 1,504-room resort offers 107,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, 51,000 square feet of outdoor meeting space, and a 40,000-square-foot spa. Its other notable dining outlets include Gotham Steak by Alfred Portale of New York City's Gotham Bar & Grill and Scarpetta by James Beard Award recipient Scott Conant.

The News: Sited on 16 acres a mile west of Stanford University, the Craftsman-style Rosewood Sand Hill opened in April.

Specs: 123 guest rooms, including 31 suites; 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 2,800-square-foot ballroom that accommodates up to 300 guests

The News: The new resort is scheduled to open in late 2009. The Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course and 50,000-square-foot clubhouse have recently opened.

Specs: The resort will have 250 guest rooms, three ballrooms, five meeting rooms, five dining options, a fitness center, and a full-service spa with indoor and outdoor treatment rooms.

The News: The new property opened last December.

Specs: The 184-room hotel features more than 20,000 square feet of meeting space, including a two-story grand ballroom. Also on site is a 32-seat private screening room, a business center, the Sè Spa, and a rooftop pool deck.

The News: A two-year, $90 million renovation added rooms and updated the entire property.

The News: The new property is scheduled to open in 2011.

Specs: The 192-room resort will include more than 23,000 square feet of function space, encompassing two ballrooms, six conference rooms, and two outdoor pavilions. The resort sits on 554 acres with a one-mile coastline and will feature a Greg Norman golf course.

The News: Five meeting resorts have banded together and are targeting medical meetings. Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa, Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, The Hilton Garden Inn, The Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa, and, scheduled to open in 2010, The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage will collectively offer 141,500 square feet of meeting space and 2,174 guest rooms.
