La Costa Resort and Spa

Gleaming from a $140 million renovation and expansion, La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., has been transformed from a faded legend into a modern luxury property that was built by owner KSL Resorts with meetings in mind. There's a total of about 92,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, including the 40,000-square-foot La Costa Conference Center with 15 conference rooms and the 18,000-square-foot Costa del Sol Ballroom. All 474 guest rooms were remodeled in the comfortable California Colonial style that distinguishes the architecture throughout, and the two Dick Wilson — designed golf courses were spruced up with new trees, bunkers, and tees. The new Athletic Club is state-of-the-art, and the BlueFire Grill, opened in March, serves up fresh, regional cuisine in a stylish setting.

With a spectacular new spa as well as the world-renowned Chopra Center on premises, La Costa is also a great spot to relax and recharge. The spa has 42 treatment rooms, a full complement of massage and body treatments, and a 15,000-square-foot outdoor courtyard in which to enjoy the balmy Southern California weather. For a deeper experience, the Chopra Center offers yoga and meditation classes, ayurvedic massage, and customized programs for corporate groups.
