The Atlanta Marriott Suites Midtown has completed a $4.5 million renovation of its 254 guest suites. Last year, the property renovated its 5,500 square feet of meeting space.

Slated for a December 2002 opening, the Overland Park (Kansas) Convention Center will offer 237,000 square feet of function space. It will be connected to a new 20-story, 412-room Sheraton Hotel by an outdoor courtyard.

Marriott's Desert Springs Resort & Spa, Palm Desert, Calif., is undergoing a multimillion-dollar refurbishment to its 884 guest accommodations slated for completion in October. The resort has 51,300 square feet of conference space.

The Hyatt Regency San Diego is expanding with a 33-story, 750-room tower that will feature an additional 86,000 square feet of meeting space. Expected to be completed in summer 2003, the expansion will connect to the existing 40-story, 875-room Hyatt. Once complete, the finished property will be renamed the Manchester Grand Hyatt and will offer a total of more than 120,000 square feet of meeting space and 1,625 sleeping rooms and suites.

The 347-room Radisson Kauai Beach Resort, Kauai, Hawaii, recently completed a $10 million renovation, which included all guest rooms (now wired with high-speed Internet access) and public areas. A spa and fitness facility, several koi ponds, and a sandy-bottom pool were also added. The resort features 12,000 square feet of meeting space that can accommodate up to 500 people.

Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa, Hawaii, is spending $18.4 million in guest room upgrades and refurbishments. Slated for a December 2001 completion, the renovations include all 807 guest rooms. Last June, the property opened the Spa Moana.
BEYOND BORDERS
The Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Club & Resort on St. Thomas, U.S.V.I., recently broke ground on a $1 million, 10,000-square-foot spa, to be completed January 2002, marking the completion of the final phase of the all-inclusive Sugar Bay's $7.5 million renovation. The 300 room property has 15,600 square feet of indoor meeting and function space.
