Quality improvement Institute Launches Conference

The National Institute for Quality Improvement and Education is holding its first annual conference, NIQIE 2008: Building the Bridge between CME and Quality Improvement, October 2-3, at the Renaissance M Street Hotel, Washington, D.C.

The conference aims to bring together quality improvement and continuing medical education professionals to discuss how to build a national strategy for integrating both disciplines, with the goal of improving physician performance. The Institute plans to issue a publication based on the proceedings.

Topics include measuring performance improvement; ensuring maintenance of competence through maintenance of certification, maintenance of licensure, and credentialing; performance improvement technologies; the role of health systems in continuous performance improvement; and how to access and use healthcare data sources. The format combines lectures with facilitated discussions and reflection.
