The official groundbreaking ceremony for Omni Hotels & Resorts’ new property in Louisville, Ky., was held January 29. The 30-story property will have 612 guest rooms and suites topped by 225 luxury apartments. Scheduled to open in early 2018, the hotel will be part of a development one block from the Kentucky International Convention Center that will include entertainment, retail, and office spaces.
The “Fourth Street Live!” area is a $289 million public/private project, with Omni footing 52 percent of the development costs and the city and state providing 48 percent (which includes a rebate of taxes generated by the project).
In addition to being a quick walk from the 300,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space at the convention center, the Omni Louisville Hotel will offer 70,000 square feet of its own flexible event space. Also planned: an urban rooftop pool deck, fitness center, Mokara signature spa, lobby art gallery, and a “speakeasy” with bowling alley. Another modern feature: a high-end grocery store will connect to the hotel’s lobby, serving guests and locals alike.
For Omni, the Louisville property joins its growing Convention Collection, which includes signature properties in Atlanta, Dallas, Fort Worth, Nashville, Providence, San Diego, and Washington. D.C.
