Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort Renovation Earns HOSPY Award

The Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nev., recently received the Hospitality Industry Network’s special Judges Award for Creative Guestroom Renovation for its $25 million guest suite renovation efforts. Currently under way, the renovations will include high-quality furnishings, and multidimensional art.

The resort features almost 2,000 rooms and suites and 200,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, including the Nevada Conference & Exhibition Center, which offers 44,115 square feet of meeting and exhibit space and 12 breakout rooms with seating for 30 to 100 guests; Silver State Pavilion, whichfeatures 25-foot ceilings and 41,364 square feet of meeting space, including two separate meeting rooms and a foyer; and the Summit Pavilion, a fully carpeted 45,312-square-foot exhibition area that can accommodate 300 8-foot-by-10-foot booths or a general session for 4,000. The resort also has retail stores, entertainment, 10 restaurants, a two-screen cinema, a 50-lane bowling center, rides, and nightlife options.


The HOSPY Awards recognize individuals and properties for extraordinary achievement in architecture, design, and development in the hospitality industry. The event raises funds to provide scholarships in architecture, interior design, construction, hotel management, gaming management, and culinary arts.
