The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, the organization responsible for managing the Internet's domain name system, this spring announced a new top-level domain: .travel. Any organization in the global travel community is eligible to use the domain. The authentication process began July 1 for potential users, and the registration process starts in September. Tralliance Corp., which is operating the .travel registry, is working with the World Tourism Organization to give registration priority to member nations.
