Raging wildfires in southern California caused the Convention Industry Council to postpone its October 29th Council of Delegates meeting at La Costa Resort & Spa. The resort, located west of the fires, is not in imminent danger from the flames. However, CIC officials thought it wise to reschedule the meeting so their members are not in the way of people who need to evacuate the area.
While a new meeting date has not been set, the group intends to reschedule in the near future in the San Diego area, said Juli Jones, CIC spokeswoman.
On the agenda was a motion to approve the first two installments of the Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) project — terminology and history/post events. After two-and-a-half years of research and review, the reports have been finalized and are expected to receive final approval at the rescheduled CIC meeting. --Dave Kovaleski
