Site selection giant HelmsBriscoe is doing its part to help the meeting industry survive the recent tragedy by waiving fees for hotels listing information at its Hot Dates Hot Rates Web site ( Hotels usually pay a fee based on the number of rooms available, but all listings will be free through the end of the year, to help hotels recoup revenue losses due to group cancellations. The service, which includes an online RFP function, is always free to meeting planners.

"We work in one of the hardest hit segments of the economy," says Roger Helms, president and CEO of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based HelmsBriscoe. "The hotel community has been generous in waiving cancellation fees but that has resulted in their being hit doubly hard when groups pull out. We are grateful we have a way to assist in their recovery from huge financial losses. And we hope it spurs organizations to start meeting again."
