EIBTM, the annualexhibition for the meeting and incentive travel industry, scheduled for May 21 to 23 in Geneva, has chosen Hans-Dietrich Genscher as the opening . Known as the architect of German reunification, Genscher served as Germany’s minister of foreign affairs and as deputy chancellor.
His keynote address will offer "valuable insight into major business opportunities in a new and different kind of Europe," says exhibition director Debbie Jackson. "Much has changed for everyone in the past year, but the signs are clear that in the second half of 2002, we will be back on course. We want EIBTM to act as a practical and constructive international forum, helping and encouraging the industry to drive forward for sustained growth at a time when it is most needed."
Government ministers, politicians, and heads of leading industry companies and industry associations will be invited to attend the opening. The stage will be in the exhibition halls to ensure that exhibitors and visitors have the opportunity to hear Genscher’s address, says Jackson.
