Chicago-based BCD M&I, the meeting and incentive management arm of BCD Group, has acquired Universal Meeting Management Inc., Raleigh, N.C.

UMM, founded and led by Kathy Truelove for over 20 years, specializes in meetings for the healthcare provider market, and brings a proprietary technology for that sector to BCD M&I’s operations. The technology platform tracks, measures, and reports meeting analytics to ensure the financial transparency, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance of HCP meetings. In a release, BCD M&I said the platform “will immediately be integrated into all of BCD M&I’s regional operations.”

In addition to its customer portfolio and proprietary technology, Global President Scott Graf acknowledged skills that the UMM staff will bring to the BCD M&I team. “The employees of UMM bring our clients something very valuable with their unrivalled expertise in planning and executing pharmaceutical events. They also share our dedication to superior customer service.” UMM had 31 full-time employees as of mid-2013.

“Acquisition is key to our strategic growth plan,” said Graf, “and we could not have found a better cultural fit than the one that currently exists at UMM.”
